Now I've never been known as one who says no to a drink, however, today I am feeling somewhat delicate from not an entire evening of not saying no. Alas, I can't seem to do anything about the excessively loud roadworks that seem to have sprung up all over the city for today only, however I might be able to do something about the nausea. Hair of the dog anybody? I'll take one of those!
Which leads me onto the latest post in the Fancy a Tipple series... the Bloody Mary. Perfect. Nothing quite kills a hangover as well as a decent bloody!
Acquiring the taste for a "bloody" is a rite of passage for every prep. More of a boozy cold soup than a sweet aperitif, the bloody mary is the single best cure for a hangover. Fact!
Ingredients:
- 2 or 3 ice cubes
- Double shot of vodka
- Juice of half a lemon (lime for an interesting alternative)
- 5 drops of Worcestershire sauce (Lea & Perrins is best)
- 3 drops of Tabasco sauce
- 150ml tomato juice
- Pinch of celery salt
- Pinch of ground black pepper
- Celery stalk for garnish
- Prawn/slice of tomato/slice of lime for garnish
- Add ice to a glass tumbler
- Pour vodka over ice
- Add the Worcestershire sauce, tabasco sauce, lemon juice and tomato juice to the glass
- Season with celery salt and black pepper
- Add celery stalk and use to gently mix drink
- Add garnish
- Say goodbye to your hangover!
