MUST HAVES | OUTERWEAR | Harrington Jacket
Harrington jackets were everywhere in the 1980s. However, their popularity waned in the 1990s and they came to be associated more with retired American tourists or market traders than with preps. For shame. Thankfully, the Harrington seems to have curried favour with a new generation of preps and hipster fashionistas alike and there has been a resurgence of demand for the eponymous lightweight jacket.
Baracuta G-9 make the original Harrington but they are available elsewhere too (Fred Perry produce some fine Harrington jackets). Go for beige or a pastel blue and always a tartan lining. These are perfect for cooler days and make for a refined yet casual look.
