It's a well-known fact that preppies like to drink and any occasion is an occasion to do so. I'm a prep, therefore I enjoy a drink. :)
My tipple of choice prior to a meal or after a long day slaving at the computer is a Gin & Tonic and so it is with some smug satisfaction that I introduce my Fancy a Tipple series with the G&T. This calls for a drink...
The G&T is the perfect default drink that encourages relaxation and quenches the thirst beautifully. Conceived by Colonial British as a means of fighting malaria (tonic water containing quinine) and mixed with a dash of gin for the hell of it, this is the drink to start your evening with! Best enjoyed iced cold on a hot humid day.
Ingredients:
- 1 decent measure of gin
- 150ml of tonic water
- Slice of lime
- 4 ice cubes
Instructions:
1. Add four ice cubes to a hi-ball glass
2. Fill 1/4 of the glass with gin and the remainder with tonic water
3. Add a twist of lime and stir
4. Sit back and enjoy!
Your choice of gin and your choice of tonic water is the subject of intense debate amongst preps.
Traditionalists will always go for Gordon's Dry Gin or possibly Tanqueray whereas the yuppy prefers Bombay Sapphire. Schweppes is always the correct tonic water.
